Best Women's Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis - 2026

Discover brands like Kuru, Hoka, Vionic, Dansko, Aetrex & Brooks

Welcome to my guide to the Best Women’s Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis. If you’ve skipped events because of foot pain or cycled through countless shoes that just don’t cut it, I get it—finding the right pair can feel impossible.

Although there is no one-size-fits-all for plantar fasciitis pain, I have methodically broken down the features of the top shoes so you can pick the right shoes for your needs.

The right balance of arch support, cushioning, and heel stability is essential for correcting your gait and easing discomfort. Podiatrists agree that a shoe needs structure to correct your gait and help you achieve a proper toe-to-heel motion.

Some women with Plantar Fasciitis also have tendinitis, and soft and squishy shoes can provide temporary comfort. I have highlighted shoes with more squishiness, too, so you can make the best choice.

With detailed comparisons and insepth video review, this guide makes finding the perfect fit for plantar fasciitis a lot easier.

Your foot is narrow

The KURU Atom is my pick for Best Women’s Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis. Imagine this: a pair of shoes that can unlock a new world of possibilities for women suffering from plantar fasciitis. Countless women have shared their incredible stories in online reviews of activities they can do again, all thanks to their first pair of Atoms.

KURU Atom offers the highest level of arch support. Its unique sole is engineered to reduce heel pain. Its midsole cushioning has a special foam that helps absorb shock while responding to your movement. The comfortable and lightweight upper is designed to help keep your feet cool, dry, and supported all day.

Every KURU shoe has a unique curved, heel-cupping design that stabilizes the foot. This signature feature provides extra cushioning and support in the heel, offering outstanding stability without inserts or orthotics. Kuru’s heel technology is the secret sauce in their footwear line. All of this means that you can stand, walk, work, and live your life with less pain.

When you first start wearing your KURUs, it’s important to remember that your feet may need some time to adjust. Kuru shoes offer unique support that your arches might not be accustomed to, so you could initially experience discomfort.

To help your feet adapt, I suggest wearing your KURUs for about 2-3 hours a day for a week. This will allow your feet and KURU’s technology to get acquainted.

Now, the shoes are not dainty, and I would not call them slimming because KURU has a generous toe box—if you don’t need a wide toe box or maybe your foot is on the narrow side, check out my other picks.

KURU Atom is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a plantar fasciitis shoe that delivers long-lasting relief.

Leather quality varies between production

Are you looking for a cute flat for your plantar fasciitis pain that is supportive and slimming? You get just that with the Vionic Klara—no more judgmental glances at your not-so-fashionable footwear in these cute, comfortable flats.

I can dress this flat up or down; it pairs nicely with my favorite denim, skirts, or trousers. Because of Klara’s versatility and support features, it’s on my list of the best women’s shoes for plantar fasciitis. While Klara may not be my go-to for long-distance walks, it’s ideal for casual outfits, dinner dates, or any special event.

Want to know Vionic’s secret? They’ve developed something unique called Vio-Motion support. It’s a total game-changer for anyone suffering from plantar fasciitis. This revolutionary technology supports your arch and heel, helping improve your alignment and reducing overpronation.

Klara offers a firm arch cookie. This helps keep your foot supported. The back of the insole is cupped, which helps keep your heels aligned when you walk, offering a supportive and stable base for your foot. I love this technology for Women with plantar fasciitis.  The heel and arch support offers a one-two punch helping to alleviate stress on your plantar fasciitis muscle, resulting in less pain.

Here’s the best part: It takes the pressure off your plantar fascia, thanks to its unique support and realignment features. No other footwear technology offers the same benefits. Trust me, I haven’t found anything else like it.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that Vionic has remained committed to providing superior comfort technology. However, I’ve also noticed that their leather quality sometimes misses the mark. Occasionally, there have been production runs using thinner, cheaper leather. But here’s the thing – the unique technology behind Vionic shoes still makes up for these occasional material slips. So, even if the leather isn’t perfect, wearing this Vionic ballet flat will help alleviate your heel pain.

If you’re looking for a stylish, supportive flat to relieve plantar fasciitis pain, the Vionic Klara is a fantastic choice.  Vio-Motion support technology—a game-changer for anyone dealing with plantar fasciitis.  The Vionic Klara will make a significant difference in your comfort and style.

You don't like oversized, extended soles

The Hoka Arahi is our pick for the Best Shoe for Plantar Fasciits for Women. Most podiatrists agree that wearing shoes with thin outsoles, hard insoles, and no built-in arch support can worsen plantar fasciitis. That’s why podiatrists often suggest getting a pair of Hoka footwear before prescribing custom orthotics to their patients or more aggressive treatments. As a 30+ year footwear veteran, I couldn’t agree more.  But even in you don’t run, your feet will still love these shoes.

Many Hoka styles exist, but the Arahi is excellent for plantar fasciitis pain. HOKA’s iconic oversized midsole design brings an ultimate cushioning feeling. The Arahi offers the most stability through built-in arch support and a supportive heel cup. Hoka’s signature soft midsole padding provides maximum comfort and support, reducing heel pain.

This running shoe brand is known for its innovative meta-rocker sole technology, designed to give you an effortless forward roll with every stride. The foot rolls forward in the Arhi, mimicking the smooth motion of a wheel. This roll helps propel the runner forward and avoids flat landings. Rocking motion technology reduces heel stress too and can ease plantar fascitiis.

Hoka’s are designed different from your average shoe, so some people might have a different experience after the first wear. If that’s the case for you, try wearing the for a few hours a day during the first few days. This break-in will give your feet time to adjust to the new orthotic comfort and support level.

These cute wedges provide excellent arch support and are perfect when you need to look professional or when ultra casual doesn’t cut it.

Vionic’s vio-motion support is a game changer for anyone with plantar fasciitis. You have a narrow foot

If you have plantar fasciitis, your shoes are more than a fashion accessory. You know that your footwear can either ease or worsen your plantar fasciitis pain. Aetrex Luna offers best-in-class foot support designed to offload impact from pressure points. That is why it’s our pick for the Best Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis and Overpronation. It’s arch support helps to stabilize your body, align your feet, and relieve plantar fascitiis pain. The cushioned soles are designed to relieve pressure, specifically addressing plantar fasciitis pain.

Many women have said they can stay on their feet for longer while wearing the Aetrex Luna. Not only that, but they can finally do things they had to give up because of annoying plantar fasciitis pain.

Don’t worry if the arch placement in Aetrex shoes feels slightly different than what you’re used to. There’s a reason behind it. Aetrex has strategically positioned the arch to help ease plantar fasciitis and  reduce overpronation. So, be patient if it feels a bit awkward at first. It’s all part of the plan to make your feet feel better.

This boot is seriously comfy with fantastic arch support. Even after a day of walking, it still feels soft, cushiony, and bouncy. The style looks even better in person than in photos, and the little details are way prettier in real life than online.

Cushioning is more important than Arch support & stability

Running shoes can be an excellent choice if you’re a woman with plantar fasciitis even if you don’t run. They are designed for running on hard surfaces like concrete, absorbing impact and providing a comfortable landing for your feet. These features make them an excellent option for reducing heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis. The Brooks Adrenaline is our pick for the Best Walking Shoe for Plantar Fasciitis for Women.

The Brooks Adrenaline will be a friend to your plantar fasciitis pain. Adrenaline offers incredible stability through arch support, and its guide rail technology keeps your movement in check. It’s midsole is super soft but it’s not too squishy. The built-in support of this shoe ensures that you won’t experience overpronation.

For many women, the Adrenaline is a ticket to freedom, enabling them to rediscover activities like walking with friends, or other activities they had to sacrifice due to heel pain.

If you don’t need as much stability, try the Brooks Ghost; it offers more cushioning than the Adrenaline. But with the extra cushioning, you will get less support and stability.

After extensively researching women with plantar fasciitis, we made an interesting discovery – there are two popular Brooks shoes that most sufferers prefer. It’s a split decision, with 50% of people loving the Adrenaline and the other 50% choosing the Ghost. Curiosity got the best of us, so we tried both shoes, side-by-side. They are both amazing. But here’s the thing – there’s a difference between the two. Ghost has a wonderful squishiness, while the Adrenaline offers unbeatable stability and support. So, whether you want cushioned comfort or reliable support, Brooks has got you covered.

Countless women swear by its unrivaled comfort and support, allowing them to return to their loved activities without the agony of heel pain.

The Adrenaline is available in narrows, mediums, wide, and extra wide, but they also have a wide range of sizes from 5 to 13. You will likely be a great fit, no matter your foot length or width.

Arch support & stability are more important than cushioning

Running shoes can be a game-changer if you’re a woman suffering from plantar fasciitis. Designed to tackle the challenges of running on harsh surfaces like concrete, they’re like little magic shoes that absorb the impact, giving your feet a soft and comfortable landing. This incredible shoe midsole, made of rubber, air, and light foam, gives you a plush and comfortable experience. The Ghost feeling is incredibly soft and squishy, ensuring maximum comfort and relief for your feet.

If you need maximum arch and heel support, the Adrenaline is a better option. It offers more stability, and the midsole will not feel squishy like the Ghost.

After conducting extensive research on plantar fasciitis sufferers, I discovered a consistent preference for two popular on Brooks shoes – the Adrenaline and the Ghost. Surprisingly, it turns out that about 50% of sufferers prefer the Adrenaline, while the remaining 50% opt for the Ghost. Intrigued by these findings, I decided to try both shoes side by side, and both felt amazing. However, I noticed a difference between the two. The Ghost offers a delightful squishiness, while the Adrenaline provides unparalleled stability and support. So, Brooks covers you whether you’re looking for cushioned comfort or reliable support.

The Brook Ghost could be your ultimate comfort and support solution if you’re a woman dealing with plantar fasciitis. Many women have experienced a renewed ability to do the things they love, all thanks to the relief from heel pain.

Why You Should Trust Us

I am Mary Sue Papale, the brains behind Trusty Shoe Guide and I wrote this guide on Best Women’s Shoes for Plantar Fasciits. I’m a shoe enthusiast and have racked up quite a few years in the business (over 30 years), so rest assured, I have the right to call myself an expert!

While in the footwear business, I learned what makes a shoe comfy. For plantar fasciitis, it is all about support for the arch and the heel. The appropriate amount of cushioning is critical, too – not too much and not too little. I believe in breathability too; it is hard to detect when glancing at a shoe but significantly contributes to comfort. Spotting these things is only possible if you have a trained eye, but they’re crucial to comfort and getting the right fit. I included all of these factors in the guide to help you.

I have wear-tested each shoe in this guide as well. Additionally, I studied 100+ online reviews from other women to consider different opinions to formulate this top list. Extensive research lead me to my recommendations which are also aligned with the insights of podiatrists and orthopedic specialists.

This comprehensive guide breaks down into six metrics:

Why Arch Support Is Important for Plantar Fasciitis

Proper arch support will help address your plantar fasciitis pain. Keeping your feet well-supported is crucial in reducing the risk of developing issues elsewhere in your body.

I like built-in, contoured footbeds with added memory foam cushioning.  Ultimately, this support provides a better alignment from the spine to the ankles and knees.

Arch support refers to the built-in mechanism within footwear that helps provide structural support to the foot’s arch, which is the curved area between the ball and heel. The benefits of incorporating adequate arch support in women’s shoes are numerous and impactful. Not only does it help distribute pressure evenly across the feet, preventing the formation of painful pressure points, it improves alignment and posture,

The shoes that have received our highest marks for arch support are Vionic Klara, Dansko Henriette, Hoka Arahi, Aetrex Luna, Aetrex Jillian, Brooks Adrenaline, and KURU Atom. These shoes are made by shoemakers who understand the anatomy of the foot. They offer orthopedic-level arch support. If you are not used to wearing well-supported shoes, you will need a break-in period so they can adjust to your foot.

For my arch support rankings, I am rating for both contoured and firm arch support. We measure the height of the arch support and the firmness of the compound. We also test the recovery of the memory foam.

A contoured design means that the arch support follows the natural shape of your foot, providing support where needed. The other thing we measure is the firmness of the arch support compound. A firmer compound will provide more support and stability to your foot.

Cushioning and Plantar Fasciitis

If you want to step up your comfort game for your plantar fasciitis, you will need to consider the cushioning. Cushioning provides more than just a soft landing for your foot – it also absorbs shock and adds extra padding. Think of it as a mini pillow for your feet.

With adequate cushioning, the impact from walking or running spreads out, so your feet, ankles, knees, and legs don’t bear the brunt of it. Plus, cushioning helps to keep your posture in check and promotes proper alignment. You can experience increased comfort, reduced pain, and improved foot health overall by incorporating sufficient cushioning in your shoes.

Hoka Bondi is earned our highest rating for cushioning. These shoes have the best balance between arch support and cushioning.

When it comes to ranking cushioning materials, I am all about memory foam with excellent recovery. I am particularly fond of open-cell compounds with moisture management features. Another factor I rate for is memory foam that maintains its shape and compresses less than 5% over its lifespan. This type of memory foam ensures consistent performance and prevents the cushioning from flattening out like cheaper options will.

Why Breathability Is Important for Plantar Fasciitis

Let’s talk about why breathability is a must-have feature in women’s shoes and even more important if you suffer from plantar fasciitis. When I speak about breathability, I’m referring to how well the shoe materials allow air to circulate, creating a comfortable and well-ventilated environment for your feet. Think about everything from the uppers to the linings and insoles. Breathable materials allow moisture and heat to escape meaning no rubbing, blisters, or smelly feet.

Scientific studies show that wearing shoes that don’t allow your feet to breathe properly can actually lead to pesky fungal infections or athlete’s foot. Shoes made with breathable materials like leather, mesh, cotton, or open-cell compounds keep your feet nice and cool, and help prevent those unwanted side effects.

My top pick in this category is the Aetrex Jillian. The leather upper and breathable compounds in the insole offer best in class breathability and air flow.

Buying shoes online can be risky, but I’ve got you covered. I’ve done all the research and compared the breathability levels of different shoe types, so you don’t have to guess. With over 30 years of experience in shoes, I know how to tell if the lining, insole, and uppers will provide breathability. Trust me; you won’t find this level of analysis anywhere else.

Why Versatility Is Important for Plantar Fasciitis

Investing in versatile and comfortable shoes is a smart move that can transform your wardrobe and save you money in the long haul. No need to hoard a ton of shoes for every occasion – by choosing shoes you can wear for multiple occasions, you can build a smaller, carefully selected shoe collection that effortlessly suits any event or outfit.

Whether it’s a casual day out in jeans or leggings or an elevated, smart-casual looks for dinner or a more upscale event with a casual dress or skirt, the right pair of comfortable shoes can elevate your look while keeping you comfortable all day. Ankle boots, cute ballet flats and chic sneakers are the ultimate examples of this. They effortlessly transition from day to night, from work to social gatherings, making them a must-have in your wardrobe. Their timeless appeal and adaptability to different styles make them the ultimate companions for any occasion.

My top picks in this category are the Vionic Sereno and Vionic Klara. Both of these could be your comfortable dressy shoes that support your plantar fasciitis.

That’s precisely why we made sure to consider versatility in our rankings. We all know how challenging it can be to find comfortable shoes, but finding ones that perfectly match more than just jeans? Now, that’s even tougher.

Let’s talk about our ratings, which focus on three categories 1) denim and leggings, 2) smart casual dressing, and 3) dresses and skirts. Our  top ranked shoes are versatile enough to match all three of these styles.
